The Problem

The Feed Breaks, or Misses Things
You're closing a client on Friday and the ANZ feed stops syncing, or it drops a pending charge that posted later at a different amount. The PDF is the actual record. The feed is only an approximation.

Still Typing Transactions by Hand?
A client hands over a year of ANZ PDFs and you start re-keying into a spreadsheet. It takes hours, and one missed digit throws off the whole reconciliation. Most tools that fix this make you upload sensitive client data to someone else's servers. You shouldn't have to choose between speed and where your clients' data ends up.
How it works
ANZ format
From an ANZ PDF to clean Excel, CSV or QBO file
ANZ statements are built to be read by people, not parsed by software, which is exactly why copy-paste falls apart. Docubrew is built around the ANZ layout so the data lands clean.

01
Two different layouts, columns in different orders
ANZ uses two layouts. ANZ Plus prints Date, Description, Credit, Debit, Balance; ANZ Access puts Withdrawals before Deposits, the money columns swapped. Docubrew reads both.
02
The date never carries a year
Rows show a day and short month only, like 29 Aug or 27 APR, with the year in the statement header. Docubrew reads that header year onto every row, so an April-to-May statement is dated right.
03
A separate effective date on some rows
Some rows add a second line, Effective Date 24/08/2025, a settlement date distinct from the posting date. Docubrew keeps the posting date as the row date and the effective date in the description.
04
A totals row at the end
The ANZ Access statement ends with a TOTALS AT END OF PERIOD row: period withdrawals, deposits and closing balance. It is a summary, not a transaction, so Docubrew leaves it out of the rows.
05
Descriptions wrap across lines
Descriptions wrap across two or three printed lines, a wages reference or a long transfer memo continuing below the amount. Docubrew reassembles the wrapped lines into one Description cell.
06
Commas inside amounts and descriptions
ANZ writes commas inside amounts, like 1,300.00, and inside descriptions. Written raw to a CSV each would break the row, so Docubrew strips the thousands comma and quotes any field with one.

Output
What you get: a clean,
structured data in three formats
Docubrew exports an Excel workbook (.xlsx), a CSV, or a QBO file with one row per transaction. Each row carries the fields you actually reconcile against.
Transaction date (normalised to MM/DD/YYYY)
Description (reassembled when it wraps)
Debit and credit in separate columns
Running balance
Effective date (kept in the description when present)
Account number & statement period

One clean output, everywhere you need it
Take .xlsx if you want a workbook that opens straight into Excel, formatting intact. Take CSV for Google Sheets, Xero, FreshBooks, and most accounting software that accepts CSV bank transactions. Take QBO for the QuickBooks bank feed. Whichever you pick, it's a clean import, not a live connection, so you stay in control of what goes into the books.

How to download your ANZ statement as a PDF
1
Sign in
Sign in to ANZ Internet Banking at anz.com.au, the ANZ app, or the ANZ Plus app for a Plus account.
2
Open Account
Select the account you want a statement for.
3
Statements
Open View Statements from the account menu.
4
Select Month
Choose the statement month. PDF statements are online for up to 7 years.
5
Download & Convert
Download the statement as a PDF, then convert it with Docubrew.
ANZ Plus cannot export transactions as CSV or any spreadsheet format at all, and ANZ Internet Banking's export only reaches back about two years. For a Plus account, or anything older, the PDF is the only route.

FAQ
Answers to your questions
How do I convert a ANZ statement to Excel, CSV or QBO?
Upload your ANZ PDF statement to Docubrew, let the rule-based parser extract every transaction, and download the result as an Excel workbook, a CSV, or a QBO file for QuickBooks. On the desktop app the entire process runs on your own computer, so your statement is never uploaded anywhere.
Does ANZ let you download statements to Excel, CSV or QBO?
Partly, and it depends which ANZ you bank with. ANZ Internet Banking has a transaction export to CSV, and OFX for accounting software, but it only reaches back about two years and it is a transaction list rather than the formal statement.
ANZ Plus, the newer digital bank, cannot export transactions as a spreadsheet at all. In both cases the formal statement is a PDF, available online for up to seven years, so for older periods or for ANZ Plus, a converter like Docubrew is the reliable way to get that data into Excel, CSV or QBO.
Does Docubrew handle both the ANZ Plus and ANZ Access statement layouts?
Yes. ANZ prints two different layouts. ANZ Plus statements use Date, Description, Credit, Debit and Balance columns, while ANZ Access Advantage statements use Date, Transaction Details, Withdrawals, Deposits and Balance, with the money-in and money-out columns in the opposite order. Docubrew recognises both and normalises them into the same clean output, so a Plus statement and an Access statement produce consistent files.
How accurate is the conversion?
Docubrew is near-perfect on digital (text-layer) PDF bank statements, the kind you download straight from ANZ. Every conversion ends with a preview step, so you can check the rows before you download. Nothing reaches your books unseen.
Can it convert scanned ANZ statements?
Docubrew currently processes text-layer (native digital) PDF statements, the kind you download straight from ANZ Internet Banking or the ANZ app. Scanned and image-based PDF support is on the near-term roadmap. If that is blocking your workflow, contact us at support@docubrew.com and we will let you know when it ships.
Do you convert ANZ credit card statements?
Not yet. Docubrew currently handles ANZ deposit-account statements, the transaction and savings account statements you download from ANZ. Credit card statement support is not available at launch. If you need it, contact us at support@docubrew.com so we can gauge demand.
Is it safe to convert my bank statement here?
Yes. The desktop app parses your file entirely on your own machine, so nothing is uploaded or stored. The cloud option encrypts every upload and deletes files automatically within 24 hours.
Does it work with Xero and QuickBooks?
Yes. For Xero and most accounting software, the CSV imports directly. For QuickBooks you can export a QBO file and upload it to the bank feed. If you would rather work in a spreadsheet first, take the Excel workbook. Either way it is a clean import, not a live connection, so you stay in control of what goes into the books. MYOB support is coming: MYOB imports QIF or OFX rather than CSV, and those output formats are on our roadmap.
Can I convert several ANZ statements at once?
Yes. Batch processing lets you upload dozens of statements in a single run and download each result as its own file. It's built for firms reconciling multiple clients each month, so you're not converting one PDF at a time.
How is this different from other bank statement converters?
Docubrew offers both a desktop app for local processing and an encrypted cloud option. Many converters are cloud-only, and others make you choose desktop or cloud up front. If you need control over where each client's data is processed, that per-job flexibility matters.
